Mobile Covers

It was Summer vacations at Indore (MP) at my inlaws place . My SIL and me were getting bored , so decided to use our time by making mobile  covers . So one day on a hot day after lunch started off to get raw materials ...after some hunt and lot of sun tanning came back home exhusted .

Any ways next day our project started and here is the out come .

Anushka ( sister in law's daughter) took the pics for us .

They are not great , but kept us occupied for 2 days . Lot of raw material still left and I promised myself that I will make a few more after coming back home from summer vacations ...but that day hasn't come yet :)

Umbrella short frock with Blue net .

Saw this beautiful lace on a usual visit to dress material store and just got it thinking will use it somehow and here is a dress for her .
This dress has 2 layers , upper short layer and then a long one .

She was tired of posing for me , so her Lehanga that I made is ready but pics I will have to upload later may be in a day or two.

Black and white dress.

The other day we went to Izna's birthday party she was wearing such a cute dress , and that was the inspiration for this dress for Shuchi .
The bodies is done using a sequenced black cloth , the lining is done puffed with a net over that is black satin and over that is a white net , embellished with some flowers and ribbons . red goes so well with black as well as with white . I wanted to get a pic of back of dress , but Shuchi was exhausted and was not ready to give back shot .
Adding red is giving that Zing to the dress . dress is still incomplete :) , I have to put red beads around the upper bodice in the front and that would balnce the red all over and complete the dress .

thats the back !!

Shubh In Fabric

I feel very Happy , Satisfied every time I look at a quilt I made for my Son " Shubh "

This one was also inspired watching " Simply Quilts" ..they made a face ...it looked Beautiful and a wonderful , amazing work of Art . It was as if it is the real picture not something made with pieces of fabric .

It was sooo beautiful that I felt strongly this one I have to do it for my Son ..who was just 2 years old then in 2006.

So the project started first by looking for a deal to buy the book recomended on the show
First  Faces and Places by Charlotte Warr Anderson   and the second one" Picture piecing " by Cynthia England . Got the first one on ebay for $95  closed the brower thinking the book is very costly. For next few nights I could not sleep kept thinking of the project and the book , when my husband asked what's the matter I told him about my project and the book being very costly ...without even asking the price of the book , He said if you really want to make it properly then you will have to buy the book .
It took 2 days for the book to arive and then I started on a project which took me almost 2 and 1/2 months to complete . First read the book understood how it is done. A few trips to Kinko's to get print out of picture used in various shades to properly get and differentiate the various shades of skin .After more than 2 months what came out was this ...........

The whole Body is done overlapping the pieces of fabric on a light box joined together with tiny Hand stitches .
I made the shirt on lower border with a piece from his old pants ...Also the Dolphin on the border.
The Pocket on which the picture I made into Quilt is from one of his pants .
And finally his hand print on upper left corner .

I never felt so satisfied with my own work .
I cherish this one as one of my accomplishments :)

Dolphin Quilt

Dolphin

If you see it is same block ...just that the three blocks used are rotated in a different manner and the background is made such that it feels as if the Dolphin is leaping out of water to go back again !!

I used Foundation piecing technique for this quilt and specially went to Mary  Jo's ( A shop with all kinds of amazing clothes you can think of  )in Gastonia  South Carolina  to get that "Sea " , " Clouds " and the fabric with fishes on it ,to give it a realistic effect .
Now that we have moved to India , I miss that shop in Gastonia . I just enjoyed being in that shop looking at most beautiful fabrics .
This is one of my favourites Wall quilts.

3 Dimensional Flower Quilts

I just Loved the way these Wall Quilts turned up ....wish I made a few more then .
Its difficult to find time to do these time consuming quilts now .

Quilting added so much more to the look ....they looked Beautiful ..Now hanging at my Mother's Living Room.
